Supporting a project that contributes to developing a culture of earthquake preparedness and resilience in Portugal
Documents
Portugal faces a significant seismic risk, particularly in the Lisbon and Algarve regions. Although recent earthquakes have served as a reminder of this vulnerability, public and political responses have often remained intermittent and reactive, rather than part of a sustained, evidence-based approach to preparedness.
As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, the Gulbenkian Foundation is launching this call to support the design and implementation of a project that brings together science, communication and public action. The initiative seeks to strengthen connections between academia, civil society and policymakers, helping to build a more informed and resilient society.
The project should contribute to improving public understanding of seismic risk, strengthening the preparedness of families, schools and organisations, and supporting more effective public policies and decision-making in the field of earthquake preparedness and resilience.
An online information session will be held on 18 June 2026 at 11:00 (Lisbon time). Enroll: [email protected]
