Can a garden act as a microcosm that regulates climate, noise, air quality and other ecological systems – supporting biodiversity, health and quality of life?

Portugal is one of the European countries most vulnerable to climate change. The growing frequency and duration of heatwaves, especially in cities, is a cause for concern. Urban green spaces are crucial for combating the “urban heat island” effect and for protecting public health.

The Gulbenkian Garden is part of Lisbon’s Green Plan – a continuous ecological structure designed to make the city healthier and more resilient. Through a series of scientific experiments, we will explore how the Garden contributes to these goals.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, the activity will take place indoors. Confirmation will be given up to two days before the scheduled date.

Duration: 90 min. Participants: 20 – 50 Language: Portuguese
