Gulbenkian Garden

Shaka Lion was born in Brazil and grew up in Barreiro, obsessed with the sounds of Jamaica. He started his career in clubs such as Copenhagen, Casa Independente, and Park in Lisbon, but it’s while wandering the world that he finds musical havens – playing sets for NTS and Beats1, collaborating with the renowned London radio Rinse FM, or working as a producer and musician for the Los Angeles-based label Soulection. From Toronto to Vale da Amoreira, from Chicago to Telheiras, from Kingston to Intendente, from São Paulo to Morabeza, his journey may be short but solid, with remarkable achievements: residencies at MusicBox and Lux Frágil, curatorship of the Iminente Festival, collaborations with musicians like Sango and Smino, among others.

With a wide smile and long braids, Shaka Lion brings a natural energy to his eclectic sets – blending Dub, Reggae, emotional Soul, funky grooves, laid-back Hip Hop, Jazz, and other beats – all loaded with positive vibes.
