Under the guidance and auspices of Scheherazade, the heroine of the age-old tale One Thousand and One Nights, CAM presents a selection of its collection across fourteen thematic groups, inspired by the fictional structure of that legendary anthology.

Using concepts that shape those stories and that organise the exhibition sequence, the display presents the collection in a surprising, non-chronological way, creating dialogues and relationships between artists and works from different styles and periods.

To tell, to exhibit, and to collect are ways of opening space for fiction and memory – and this exhibition is conceived as an open book.
