Auditorium 2 Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationBooks can be the key to a brighter and more balanced future. In a dance of words and dreams, authors Nuna and Maria Leitão invite us to set foot in the enchanted universe of children’s literature. Here, stories become seeds of possible worlds, driven by the curiosity that guides our souls and the compassion that connects us to the vast web of life.
Moderated by Inês Fonseca Santos, herself a children’s book author, we embark on a journey of discovery, revealing that inside each book there is an entire universe waiting to be explored.
The talk will be followed by a book signing.

Maria Leitão
She was born and educated in Lisbon, where she still lives. She opted for a degree in Latin, which is why she can truthfully say that she studied Artium Spectaculorum. In 2019, she was awarded the Pingo Doce Children’s Literature Prize for O Protesto do Lobo Mau. Quem foi ao ar... is her second book, published in 2023.

Nuna
She is an intersectional activist, revisionist and multidisciplinary artist. The anti-racist, classist, misogynist, empowering, queerphobic and xenophobic struggle, as well as animal rights and the protection of the planet, are her main focus. Her work is based on Afrofuturism and multidisciplinary creations that are representative, empowering, diverse and inclusive. She also believes that one of the functions of culture and artists is to give a voice to social progress, which is why she intertwines her activist and revisionist work with her artistic work.
