In honour of International Women's Day, CAM invites the authors of the podcast ‘Lei da Paridade’ [Parity Law] to design a special day, which begins with a poetry session focusing on gender in words.
To celebrate the International Women’s Day, we are presenting a very special event combining activism, debate, listening and performance.
The first part begins with a poetry session that includes spoken word, reading, and slam poetry. With gender as the main theme, the three guests – Maria Caetano Vilalobos, Maria Giulia Pinheiro and Shaad Wadi – have the opportunity to recite poetry or prose of their own authorship, or to perform.
The second part of this event features a conversation about the use of words as a tool to combat gender violence. Moderated by Adriana Cardoso, Leonor Rosas and Maria Castello Branco – creators of the ‘Lei da Paridade’ [Parity Law] podcast – the discussion explores the diverse and plural experience of being a woman and the possibility of resistance through art.

Adriana Cardoso
Adriana Cardoso has a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and is a specialist in Access to the Health Technologies Market. In addition to being a resident commentator on Sic Notícias and Expresso, she is also co-author of the ‘Lei da Paridade’ and co-founder of the ‘Academia Próxima Geração’.

Leonor Rosas
Leonor Rosas is a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of Lisbon, at the Institute of Social Sciences. She works on memory, heritage, and colonialism. She is co-author of the podcast ‘Lei da Paridade’ and is part of the editorial board of the online magazine ‘Desatempo’. She was a member of the CAM Youth Advisory Council, served as a deputy in the Lisbon Municipal Assembly between 2021 and 2025, and published the book ‘De quem se esqueceu Lisboa – The struggle to inscribe anti-colonial and anti-racist memory in the public space’.

Maria Castello Branco
Maria Castello Branco holds a master’s degree in Political Theory from the London School of Economics, specializing in Chinese political thought. A columnist for Expresso and resident commentator on RTP and Antena 1, she has experience in public affairs consulting and political analysis. Co-author of the podcast ‘Lei da Paridade’, she was co-editor and author of the book ‘Reflexões sobre a Liberdade – Identidades e Famílias’ (2024).

Maria Caetano Vilalobos
Maria Caetano Vilalobos is a poet, performer and teacher; she has a degree in Theatre from the University of Évora and a master’s degree in Performing Arts from Esmae. With a love of poetry that began in childhood, she is the author of the book and show ‘Mulher, Posso e Mando’ (2024) and the book ‘Calmaria’ (2025). She was the national Poetry Slam champion in 2024 and has participated in several national and international events, such as the Got Talent Portugal programme and Europe Slam. She is currently the presenter of VOZ – O Poder da Palavra [VOICE – The Power of Words], a national writing and public speaking competition for young people.

Maria Giulia Pinheiro
Maria Giulia Pinheiro is a creator, playwright, director and cultural agitator. A PhD student at the University of Coimbra, she received the ‘Prémio Nova Dramaturgia de Autoria Feminina’ in 2022. She is the author of six books of poetry and drama and serves as artistic director of FALA. Creator of shows such as ‘Viemos Roubar os Vossos Maridos’ (2025) and performance projects such as ‘Todo Mundo SLAM’ (2019–2026) ‘SLAM no CAM’ (2025–2026) and ‘Ginginha Poética’ (2019–2026), she also develops training spaces such as the ‘Núcleo de Dramaturgia Feminista’ (2017–2026) and ‘ZONA lê’ (2014–2026). Her work has been presented in Brazil, Europe and Africa.

Shahd Wadi
Shahd Wadi is Palestinian and exercises her freedom in what she does, travelling between writing, performance, curating, research and translation. Her most recent publication is the poetry book ‘Chuva de Jasmim’ (2025). She sought out her resistance by writing the country’s first doctoral dissertation in Feminist Studies at the University of Coimbra, which served as the basis for the book ‘Corpos na Trouxa: histórias-artísticas-de-vida de mulheres palestinianas no exílio’ (2017). She was recently named Galician Universal Writer of 2025. In her artistic and research practices, she addresses the Israeli occupation of Palestine and considers the arts to be a testimony to life.
