Inspired on the Venezuelan El Sistema, the “Generation Orchestra” has run its program in Portugal ever since 2007 and taking music to children and young persons through turning art into a tool for social inclusion. The orchestra performing on this occasion – the Pre-Juvenile Orchestra – is made up of 170 students drawn from different Generation orchestras, aged between 9 and 17, while also counting on the participation of 35 members of a peer Swiss program that, like Portugal, is a member of the European System, the MusicEnsemble. Under the conducting of Jesus Olivetti, jointly responsible with Juan Maggiorani for the artistic and pedagogical direction of the Generation Orchestra.
