Between May and June, the Foundation will present three works, by three female directors, chosen by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira as part of the Siza exhibition.

This film cycle opens in May with O Arquitecto e a Cidade Velha (2003), by anthropologist and director Catarina Alves Costa. The documentary follows the  rehabilitation project of Cidade Velha [Old Town], previoulsy known as Ribeira Grande, the first city founded by the Portuguese in Santiago, Cape Verde, in 1462. Coordinated by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira and his team, the final goal of this project was the candidacy of this town to UNESCO’s World Heritage. This project creates great expectations among the local population, who envisages it as a way of improving their quality of life. For three years, the encounters between the architect and the locals were recorded by the director. The director will be present.
