Indi Mateta

Event Slider

Multidisciplinary artist Indi Mateta brings the Summer Garden to life with three DJ sets dedicated to the sounds of Africa and its diaspora.

Indi Mateta’s practice crosses visual arts and music. Focusing on her personal discovery as a black and African woman, she seeks to facilitate the same discovery in others. Themes such as identity, ancestry, spirituality and social activism have been her main driving forces and a way of sharing her African heritage and blackness.

As a DJ, she has gained recognition with her diverse, energetic and authentic music selection, influenced by sounds from Africa and its diaspora. Her DJ sets feature traditional African music, hip hop, r&b, soul, neo soul, jazzy beats, funky beats, reggae, dancehall, kizomba, semba, tarraxinha, zouk and African electronic music (afrohouse, afrotech, qgom, kwaito, batida, kuduro, coupé decalé, among others).
