‘In devising this garden, we tried to make the shape of the wooded area and open spaces, the presence of water and the contrast of light and shade, respond to the Mediterranean culture and the essence of our landscapes.’
— Gonçalo R. Telles
Designed in the 1960s by landscape architects António Viana Barreto and Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles, the Gulbenkian Park is a ‘micro-landscape’ that offers atmospheres instead of paths and flowerbeds. From the relationship between wooded areas and open spaces to the dazzling light and vigor of nature, discover the rationale behind this influential project of landscape architecture in Portugal.
All tours must be booked at least two weeks in advance. The visit in Portuguese costs 100,00 € per group and in other languages costs 120,00 € per group – discounts can be applied.
