Emerging out of a partnership between the Generation Orchestra | Sistema Portugal and the Hot Clube Jazz School, the GeraJazz group experiments with new sounds able to enthuse students, teachers and their audiences. Variable in size and under the artistic direction of maestro and professor Eduardo Lála, GeraJazz began life in 2010 and has embarked on an intense program of training for its players within the scope of founding a Jazz Band. Passing from the popular Afro-American traditions and the modal jazz of Herbie Hancock, as well as the swing of the funk soul of Jaco Pastorius and Nina Simone, and the drums rooted in the tradition of Art Blakey, among other influences, GeraJazz plays important works from across the Jazz world while also including the premieres of pieces purpose commissioned for this ensemble.
