Location

Roseiral Gulbenkian Garden
On this tour led by Fernanda Botelho, we shall explore some of the Garden’s edible and medicinal plants, discovering their properties and learning how best to appreciate and use them.

Wild plants are those that occur naturally in each region where they evolved, forming the ecological foundation upon which all life depends – including that of animals and humans.

These plants play a vital role in the regeneration of natural life and the balance of ecological systems, both within cities and in agricultural ecosystems. They also hold considerable socioeconomic significance through their many applications – including the production of medicines, dyes and fibres – as well as for their nutritional value.
