Drawing for curious minds: Splendour in Venice

Event Slider

Drawing is our way of encountering the world. Everyone draws or has done at some point in their life. For some people, drawing later turns into writing, while for others it becomes a lifelong practice. There are many situations in which we use drawing, particularly when we lack the words to communicate: maps and diagrams, specific descriptions of a shape or doodles as we talk on the phone. Drawing is also a way of getting to know, of training the concentration, of feeding curiosity and activating the imagination… to the point where we can re-imagine the world around us!

In these sessions, we will look at works in the exhibition ‘Splendour in Venice: from Canaletto to Guardi’ to propose a new gaze through drawing.

Language: Português

Programme

Venice: a city of hubbub.

The fleeting outlines and meticulous gaze of Canaletto and Guardi introduce us to the splendour of Venice. The constant practice of drawing exposes us to an interplay of relationships where we must always find a way to resolve what we are seeing. Join us at the festivities!
Suggested materials: HB, 2B and 6B pencils, graphite stick, charcoal stick (willow) and white dry pastel.
