Capoeira / Passinho / Voguing

Dance workshop with Jhordan Lunarte and Nala Revlon

Event Slider

The dancers Jhordan Lunarte and Nala Revlon will share with the audience some concepts and steps of Capoeira, Passinho and Voguing, which form the basis of the performance Bala Funk, by Smaïl Kanouté,

This workshop invites the audience to experience a moment of dance that interlinks three languages of movement

Two Brazilian dancers come together to explore the urgency of life in Brazil. Between the fury and the poetry, they reinvent the tarmac of the favelas, moving lines and drawing from the legacy of the three forms of street dance that, over time, from party to party, from carioca funk to funk dance, have confronted and clashed, but also inspired one another: Capoeira, through the agility of this centuries-old martial art; Passinho, through the speed of the steps, combining samba, breakdance and hip-hop; Voguing, through the gestures of the catwalk, like a fashion show that challenges identity and gender. Through the prism of Afro-futurism, this hybrid performative dance creates an imagery instilled with a ferocious vitality, questioning racism, class struggle and preconceptions of all kinds.
