Cantigas de Maio is the motto for this concert with the Gulbenkian Choir. Encompassing nearly six centuries of music, the programme will be themed around the month of May, Spring, the singing of birds and the joy of traditional festivities. We will hear works by composers from such distinct times and places like Janequin, Monteverdi, Grieg, Brahms, Schubert and Ravel, but also José Afonso, Lopes-Graça and Eurico Carrapatoso, who celebrated – either with serenity, joy, passion or humor – the powerful rebirth of Nature.
