These recitals will be exclusively broadcast live on the digital platforms of the Gulbenkian Foundation.
Over an intense weekend, Gulbenkian Música presents Beethoven’s Complete Piano Sonatas, performed by eight outstanding Portuguese pianists. The piano sonata was the musical form that the German composer worked most consistently, composing 32 works – including the very popular Appassionata, Pastoral, Pathetique, Hammerklavier and Moonlight. For eleven years, Beethoven himself performed his sonatas in public, until prevented from doing so by his growing deafness. This evocative cycle will feature João Casimiro Almeida, Nuno Ventura de Sousa, Pedro Lopes, Raúl da Costa, Luísa Tender, Bruno Gomes, Vasco Dantas, and Pedro Gomes, performing this monumental repertoire of enormous technical demand and musical richness.
