Visit with interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language.
Taking as a starting point the Solar Barque of Djedhor (c. 380-343 B.C.E.), on display in the Museum’s Ancient Egypt gallery and featuring a crocodile on the Nile, we discuss the importance of this giant reptile, which can grow up to 9 metres in length, in the culture, mythology, economy and art of Ancient Egypt.
Artist and researcher Susana Neves introduces us to ‘ethnoherpetology,’ helping us understand the relationship that human cultures have established over the centuries with one of the oldest predators on the planet.
