A story written and illustrated by André Bouchard, about a girl who plays with a magic wand and, quite unexpectedly, finds she can transform the world around her, sets off a chain of surprising plots – some funny, others with a healthy dash of mischief.
Tell me a tale! cycle
Tell Me a Tale! is a storytelling cycle for families in which each session brings a new story told by a different artist. Inspired by the power of Scheherazade, the cycle draws on tales of strong female characters who can change the course of events and always open up new possibilities.

As a child I was a terrible liar. I seized every chance to invent stories that sounded true. In time, thanks to books, I realised that what I was telling were not lies but tales – my own way of making sense of reality. As an adult I could never hold down a job. Among many other things I was a bricklayer, a postman, a cobbler, a painter, a teacher, an actor, and I even had a band. I wanted to be everything and try everything… and I managed it! Thanks to books (again). They gave me stories, they gave me ideas, and with them the chance to slip into many characters and live many lives. In 1993 I began telling stories in a museum. Later I started visiting schools to tell stories or read aloud. I have not stopped travelling since. Stories take me everywhere. In 2004 I published my first book, about the intuition of reading and the urge to narrate. Writing joined my other callings: storyteller, reader, illustrator of my own books and leader of workshops for children and adults. I like being known as “the worst storyteller in the world”; sometimes it is good to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. That is undoubtedly where the best stories are born.
