As if following an ancient narrative, we return to the stories we inherited, to the collective memory handed down through the generations and to the silences that also tell a tale. Every thread carries a presence, and every knot something to be untied.
Folk tales are full of such threads. Woven into them are the voices of women who, for centuries, passed on stories, knowledge and ways of living in the world. Spinners, godmothers, wise old women, mothers, orphans and healers: archetypes emerge that still speak to us, symbolic mirrors of our losses, desires, fears and transformations. Born of the spoken word and of shared experience, these narratives hold a wisdom that outlasts time.
In telling them once more, we carry on the endless work of turning memory into presence and experience into story.
Tell me a tale! cycle
Tell Me a Tale! is a storytelling cycle for families in which each session brings a new story told by a different artist. Inspired by the power of Scheherazade, the cycle draws on tales of strong female characters who can change the course of events and always open up new possibilities.
