The profuse praise and number of prizes which the 24-year-old French pianist Alexandre Kantorow has accumulated leave no doubt as to his exceptional talent. At the time of the launch of his third album, À la Russe, in 2017, the magazine Fanfare wrote that “rarely has a new edition persuaded us that the next great pianist has arrived, but that is what has happened here”. Worthy of comparisons with Franz Liszt, whose work forms the centre of his Gulbenkian Music concert, Kantorow was awarded the Diapason d’Or and the Choc de Classica for his performance of solo piano pieces of Brahms, Bartók and Liszt, and he has also been singled out by Gramophone for his talent and unreserved sensitivity.
