In the shadow of Science
The case of the colonial collections of the National Museum of Natural History and Science
The Summer School brought together experts to discuss topics such as the impact of Artificial Intelligence on museum work, participatory curatorship, collaborative networks, and the role of museums in constructing and challenging historical identities.
In her presentation, Marta Lourenço spoke about the ‘decolonisation’ program regarding the scientific collections of the former Tropical Research Institute, that entered the collection of the
National Museum of Natural History and Science, in Lisbon, in 2015. This talk was part of the fourth panel of the conference, titled The museum as citizen: difficult histories, contested identities.
