Location
Multi-purpose Room Calouste Gulbenkian MuseumThe fragments that artist Teresa Segurado Pavão has collected throughout her life, or that have been passed on to her by friends and family, have been continually incorporated into her textile works. The notion of the “fragment” is therefore a recurring theme throughout the works presented in the exhibition The Imaginary Collection, currently on display in the galleries of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.
Led by Teresa Segurado Pavão and Joana Capucho, this workshop invites participants to create a textile piece while reflecting on its underlying concept and selecting personal fragments and objects to incorporate into it. More than an introduction to basic tapestry techniques, this workshop offers an opportunity to share and discuss the creative process behind the making of a work of art.
For the first session, on 20 February, from 10:00 to 13:00, participants should bring a frame of their choice, either new or vintage, square or rectangular, not exceeding A4 size. For the second session, on 20 March, from 10:00 am to 17:30, participants should bring the fragments they wish to incorporate into their textile piece, along with any additional materials they have chosen, which will be discussed during the first session.
