This tour to the Gulbenkian Garden explores photosynthesis, gas exchanges, plant adaptations, sap circulation, life cycles, reproductive strategies, taxonomy and nomenclature.

Long before flowering plants (angiosperms) appeared, there were plants producing cones, and others reproducing by spores or asexual means. Common to them all is the ability to photosynthesise and to transport sap through their different organs.

This biodiversity, the result of evolution, raises questions of how to name each species and classify them into genera, families and beyond.

An opportunity to explore this fascinating world first-hand, discover curiosities, consolidate knowledge and ask every question about plants you’ve ever wanted.
