Did you know that digital sensors can be used to measure this and other components of the Garden that are invisible to our senses, such as air quality, solar radiation and soil electrical conductivity?

New technologies allow us to observe the Garden in ways that were previously unimaginable, revealing valuable information about how ecosystems function and the relationships between their different elements.

Led by the Inovlabs team, this workshop invites teachers and students to explore the potential of digital sensors for environmental research and monitoring. Throughout the activity, participants will learn how to use different types of equipment and interpret data related to air quality, carbon dioxide (CO₂) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including compounds released by plants, as well as soil pH and electrical conductivity.

Through a hands-on and participatory approach, participants will have the opportunity to set up environmental monitoring stations and analyse the data collected in real time. This experience offers new perspectives on the use of technology in environmental education and STEM, providing tools that can be integrated into educational projects focused on observing, investigating and understanding the ecosystems around us.
