Gulbenkian Choir in Paris: 100 Years of Memory

01 jun 2015

In the context of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian General Benevolent Union organized a unique concert at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, on 21 April. The concert was led by maestro Alain Altinoglu and included Armenian musicians from the Gulbenkian Orchestra, as well as 40 members of the Gulbenkian Choir. The choir’s participation was facilitated by the Armenian Communities Department. Michel Petrossian’s composition “Ciel à vif” was premiered at the concert: the programme also included Aram Khatchaturian and Mozart.

In this exclusive video Gulbenkian musicians and choir members describe the concert as a performance of symbolic dimensions and acknowledge the sense of responsibility and legacy they felt.
