Winners of the SEDA

The Salavisa European Dance Award (SEDA), €150.000 euros, will be attributed every two years to artists from all around the world whose talent deserves to be promoted beyond their own borders and who haven’t yet reached visibility in the European circuit.

Each partner institution will be associated with and organisation or an individual specialist to nominate three candidates, broadening the horizons of the SEDA network in terms of policy content, background and geography. From this list, the Nomination Committee, constituted by seven voting members and a non-voting chair, will select the five finalists, one of whom will be the winner, picked by the Jury.

Dorothée Munyaneza (Rwanda/United Kingdom/France) and Idio Chichava (Mozambique) were the winners of the first edition of the Salavisa European Dance Award (SEDA).

According to the jury, constituted of three independent specialists – Mette Ingvarsten, Nayse López and Fu Kuen Tang –, the two winners laureates stand out for their particularly successful artistic approaches in their recent body of work, as well as for their deep connection to their artistic contexts, communities, and collaborators.

Among the nominees were Portuguese Catarina Miranda, Morroccan Bouchra Ouizguen and French-Algerian Dalila Belaza.
