PARTIS & Art for Change

Bowing: a gesture of respect in Asian cultures.

It is also the name given to this participatory art project aimed at migrants from Asia and Eastern European countries who are working in the municipality of Odemira, mostly at multinational intensive farming companies, and their children integrating local schools.

The artistic work, led by Madalena Victorino, uses dance, music, video and plastic arts as a universal language and aims to explore, dignify and appreciate intrinsic elements of foreign cultures to create common ground and a place to share and merge knowledge, feelings and identities with Portuguese culture.

This video was recorded in Odemira at the end of 2022 and follows one of the joint working sessions, as well as the public performance.

Bowing was one of the projects supported in the 1st edition of the PARTIS & Art for Change initiative.
