Gulbenkian Home Care
Innovation in Home Care Services for Older People
Between 2023 and 2024, the Gulbenkian Home Care initiative supported fifteen pilot projects that tested new approaches to improving home care for older people, whose results are presented in this publication.
“Access to care, the preservation of older people’s abilities, capacity building, and the specialisation of care professionals lie at the core of the Gulbenkian Home Care initiative. This programme promotes coordination and complementarity across sectors and services to ensure the highest quality of home care. Fifteen pilot projects were supported in different regions, work processes and methodologies were evaluated, and new tools were introduced to streamline both management and care delivery.
This publication dedicated to the Gulbenkian Home Care pilot experience brings together contributions from various authors involved in the first phase of the initiative – as coordinators, implementers, evaluators, and invited experts with significant experience in the field of ageing. (…)
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation hopes that the results and impact of these projects will contribute to the development of a new model for the provision of care to older people in home and community settings, including the advancement of improved public policies that value integrated care systems for this population.”
