Gulbenkian Migrations Forum

As part of the commemorations to mark its 50th anniversary, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation organised the first Gulbenkian Immigration Forum, headed by António Vitorino, between March 2006 and March 2007.

The aim of the initiative was to consolidate knowledge on the traditional immigrant integration models and the respective successes and failures with a view to adapting policies to the new realities of migratory movements.

The second edition of the Forum came in 2008, now under the name of the Gulbenkian Migrations Forum. It focused on the questions of housing and health, two specific issues that emerged during the previous year’s debates.

The Forum has helped to promote reflection and the exchange of experiences whilst giving greater visibility to the activities of the Foundation in the hosting and integration of migrants.
