Gulbenkian Global Mental Health Platform
The Platform is a collaboration with the World Health Organization and the Department of Mental Health of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the NOVA University of Lisbon.
About the Platform
The Gulbenkian Global Mental Health Platform is coordinated by Professor Benedetto Saraceno and aims to approach innovative mental health models in the context of Global Health Agenda.
The Platform is a partnership with the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the NOVA University of Lisbon with the collaboration of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, WHO, and aims to tackle:
- Fundamental connections between physical and mental health, in their implications for the integration of care
- The urgency of managing mental disorders are dealt towards a community-based healthcare
- The social determinants related to mental illness and how their relationship helps to prevent mental disorders
- The need to protect the rights of people with mental disabilities, especially the children in psychiatric settings
