The jury for the award, presented annually by the Portuguese Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB), highlighted the “editorial project that offers a reading experience based on the performativity of the object, treating the complexity of the content, with its varied typologies and specificities, as a playful, open and participatory proposal. Providing a multiplicity of reading and content consultation experiences, it presents an interesting intertextual structure and a page layout that enhances the combination, emphasising the concept of movement and improvised choreography. Making use of common materials, the graphic production is skilful and surprising.

dança não dança accompanied the exhibition dança não dança: arqueologias da nova dança em Portugal (dance not dance: archaeologies of new dance in Portugal), on display at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between November 2024 and January 2025.

There were 98 titles in the competition. In addition to dança não dança, which was unanimously distinguished, special mentions were also awarded to the Macedo Cannatà studio for the design of the book Os Ovários das Papoilas, and to Sofia Gonçalves for the design of Problemas do Primitivismo – a partir de Portugal.

The winner, special mentions and 14 other titles will be presented by DGLAB at the international competition for the best book design worldwide, in 2026, in Germany.
