The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose main purpose is to improve people’s quality of life through art, charity, science, and education. The Foundation carries out its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon, and from its branches in Paris and London.

We are seeking a Video Technician to join our Communications Department. This role is responsible for the setup and operation of audiovisual systems used in events, initiatives, exhibitions, conferences, and performances organised by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, ensuring the required levels of quality throughout.

Contract Type: Permanent Employment Contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture digital video in both indoor and outdoor environments, applying best practices and appropriate audiovisual languages to ensure technical, aesthetic, and narrative excellence. This includes operating cameras, digital audio equipment, lighting, and, when applicable, drones.
  • Carry out video and audio editing and post-production, including cutting, motion graphics animation, colour grading, and sound design. Ensure narrative flow and technical quality across a variety of platforms and channels.
  • Actively contribute to the planning of the team’s production cycle. Responsibilities include attending briefing meetings with different departments of the Foundation, production scheduling, meeting deadlines, and sharing responsibility for the final quality control of the produced narratives.
  • Continuously analyse and reassess production processes and working methods. Identify opportunities for optimisation and implement solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with available operational resources.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s degree (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced proficiency in editing and post-production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Media Encoder).
  • Strong knowledge of digital photography, audio, lighting, and image editing (Photoshop, Lightroom).
  • Basic understanding of digital animation and familiarity with software such as Blender.
  • Excellent writing skills and fluency in both Portuguese and English.
  • Experience in subtitle writing and content cataloguing.
  • Understanding of script language, storyboards, and creative briefs.
  • Strong communication skills, autonomy, and team spirit.
  • General knowledge of GDPR regulations.
