The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose fundamental purpose is to improve people’s quality of life through art, charity, science, and education. The Foundation carries out its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon and from its delegations in Paris and London.

We are looking for a Transport Manager to join our Central Services team. This position is responsible for managing the transportation of people and goods, as well as for overseeing customs procedures, ensuring that all operations are carried out in full compliance with applicable requirements and regulations.

Contract type: Permanent employment contract

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the management, supervision, and monitoring of all transportation activities involving goods and artworks (within and outside the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation), guaranteeing that these are executed according to established plans, conditions, and requirements;
  • Ensure that customs regulations associated with the import and export of goods and artworks are duly observed and complied with;
  • Manage communication and coordination with external transport companies, including the analysis, selection, and negotiation of contractual conditions;
  • Ensure that all necessary insurance policies related to the transportation of goods and artworks are in place and active, verifying the compliance of issued certificates and ensuring the proper closure of policies when required;
  • Oversee and monitor the transportation of goods and artworks from origin to final delivery, ensuring that the entire process is conducted in accordance with predefined conditions;
  • Verify and validate all invoices related to transportation services and ensure their proper submission to the responsible internal units;
  • Liaise and coordinate with external entities and authorities in order to obtain the necessary licenses and authorisations for transport operations;
  • Maintain regular communication and collaboration with the various departments of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, collecting and providing all data, information, and documentation required for the efficient execution of activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred);
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in a similar role;
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong orientation towards achieving goals and meeting deadlines.
