Stage Electrician Technician

Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose fundamental purpose is to improve people’s quality of life through art, charity, science, and education. The Foundation carries out its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon, as well as from its branches in Paris and London.

We are looking for a Stage Electrician Technician to join the Central Services (Performance Support) team, who will be responsible for identifying the equipment required according to each production’s specifications, handling and ensuring the assembly, operation, and dismantling of lighting systems, as well as maintaining all related equipment.

Contract Conditions: Fixed-Term Employment Contract (6 months)

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in the creation of lighting designs, ensuring the identification and organization of all materials required for each setup, in accordance with the requirements of different technical riders.
  • Ensure the assembly and focusing of lighting designs within the performance space, adapting when necessary to the available logistics. Configure the lighting console according to the operator’s requirements.
  • Operate the lighting console in accordance with the lighting design and staging previously agreed upon with the various parties involved in the performance.
  • Carry out maintenance and testing of equipment, whether in use or stored in the warehouse, whenever necessary. Manage stock control of all materials within this sector and report to management on items requiring replacement, repair, or disposal.
  • Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations, particularly when performing work at height.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in similar roles; previous experience as a live performance lighting technician/designer is mandatory.
  • Relevant training in lighting and preferably in Electrical Engineering/Electrotechnics.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English.
  • Experience with lighting programming software.
  • Knowledge of network configuration for lighting control systems.
  • Technical drawing skills using 2D and 3D applications.
  • Experience operating lighting consoles.
  • Experience in stock organization and inventory management.
  • Ability to work at height.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
