The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose fundamental purpose is to improve people’s quality of life through art, charity, science and education. The Foundation operates from its headquarters in Lisbon and its branches in Paris and London.

We are looking for a Senior Investment Technician to join the Finance and Investment Service team, who will manage and monitor various investment activities in accordance with current standards and processes, with the aim of driving and promoting the financial returns of the Foundation’s investments, as well as ensuring the necessary funds for its activities.

Contractual conditions: Permanent employment contract

Main responsibilities

  • Participating in the definition of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s investment strategy, contributing with technical opinions and inputs for its development;
  • Analysing the return on investments made, with a view to assessing their viability and identifying the impact of the actions taken, safeguarding the interests of the organisation;
  • Liaising with external bodies (consultants, lawyers, CMVM, among others) to provide or gather the information needed to develop processes and activities;
  • Drawing up technical opinions, whenever requested, providing information and preparing documents to support decision-making processes;
  • Developing analyses, information reports and preparing clarifications, ensuring that all information is provided within the set deadlines and with the required level of quality, providing the various interlocutors with the necessary information for decision-making processes;
  • Ensuring the follow-up and monitoring of custody operations, guaranteeing that the various activities and processes are carried out as planned and within the deadlines set;
  • Continuously analysing the performance of the financial markets, with a view to identifying trends, monitoring their evolution and analysing possible impacts on the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation;
  • Ensuring the necessary funds for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s activities.

Skills required

  • Pre-Bologna degree or Integrated Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Management or similar, with CFA Charteholder being a preferential requirement;
  • Minimum of 12 to 15 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Proficiency in Investments and Financial Markets and knowledge of GIPS principles and applicable regulations;
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and high analytical skills;
  • High communication and negotiation skills;
  • Highly goal orientated.
