The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose main purpose is to improve people’s quality of life through art, charity, science, and education. The Foundation carries out its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon, and from its branches in Paris and London.

We are looking for an Assistant Librarian to join the Art and Archive Library team, which will responsible for supporting the integrated management of collections, estates and archives across the various sectors of activity of the Art Library, as well as for processing the information and documentation resources that make up the documentary fund, and for providing specialized support and assistance in the use of said resources and services.

Contractual conditions: Fixed-term employment contract (6 months)

Main Responsibilities

Provide support in identifying, assessing, selecting, and acquiring information and documentation resources;

Ensure that the inventory, pre-processing, processing and integration of information and documentation resources are completed;

Provide support to the various management and development tasks and activities related to current and special collections, including the selection and preparation of information and documentation resources for transfer to other institutions and/or for disposal;

Search and retrieve information and documentation, including providing support to surveys and research projects;

Ensure that the various tasks of customer service, whether provided in person, in the reading room, or remotely, are actually provided;

Collaborate in the research and production of promotional content for digital media, and support the production of displays and exhibitions;

Comply with various other responsibilities required to achieve the goals of the work team.

Required Skills

  • Graduate degree in Art History or in any field of visual arts.
  • Postgraduate/Master’s degree in Information and Documentation Sciences.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience in similar responsibilities;
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Good command of written and spoken Portuguese and English language.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office tools.
