Health science empowerment program for higher education institutions in PALOP countries

This grant supports clinical projects that strengthen the connection between research units or centres at universities in PALOP countries and healthcare facilities in their geographical area, contributing to addressing these countries’ health challenges, through:

  • promoting training and updating the scientific knowledge of health professionals and researchers;
  • fostering knowledge transfer strategies focusing on the application of research results to reviewing and improving clinical protocols, healthcare standards and institutional procedures;
  • improving the quality of healthcare through the evaluation of interventions, observational studies and the implementation of evidence based practices;
  • stimulating the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge resulting from studies, including the publication of articles in scientific journals with peer review, presentations at conferences and the production of impact reports;
  • boosting the capacity to generate clinical knowledge and norms susceptible to replication in other national institutions
  • raising the level of participation in national and international networks.

Conditions

Applications must include the following details, among others:

  • Name of the applying institution and the project leader;
  • A description of the applying institution;
  • Partner entity/entities involved, their role in the proposed project and the clinical coordinator;
  • Proposed project;
  • Work plan and forecast schedule;
  • Proposed budget.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are non-profit university teaching institutions in the field of Health Sciences from Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe, in partnership with a healthcare facility in the same country.

Applications must have as project leader a faculty member of the applicant institution holding a doctoral degree in the health sciences, resident in the country, and must also identify a clinical coordinator from the partner healthcare institution.

  • Prior to completing the application form, check all the respective eligibility criteria. We would recommend reading the Call Conditions (available in the Documents section);
  • The application may only be submitted following the completion of all the obligatory fields in the form and uploading the documents stipulated in the Call Conditions;
  • On finishing these stages, click on the “submit application” button. In order to avoid difficulties in submitting your application, avoid waiting until the final days before the deadline.
