These grants support scientific development throughout the doctoral journey by funding essential research activities, short-term training and scientific output.

They are designed to strengthen the quality of research projects and support their timely completion, while reinforcing doctoral candidates’ autonomy in shaping, developing and managing their work.

The programme also encourages participation in academic networks, collaborative environments and scientific mobility initiatives, fostering institutional cooperation and increasing the visibility of projects at both regional and international levels.


Conditions

The grant has a maximum duration of 36 months and a maximum value of €20,000.

It covers necessary and duly justified costs related to the completion of the doctoral thesis, including fieldwork and research expenses, scientific mobility and internationalisation, scientific production and dissemination, the acquisition of consumables and technical resources, short-term training, as well as specialised services directly linked to the research.


Eligibility

  • Have a doctoral thesis project approved by the scientific council of a higher education institution;
  • Hold an undergraduate degree from a higher education institution in a PALOP country (Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique or São Tomé and Príncipe);
  • Be under 38 years of age on 31 December 2026.
