A training programme for professional curators and cultural actors from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe and East Timor.

This advanced training programme aims to strengthen the skills of curators and cultural professionals from the PALOP countries (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe) and Timor-Leste, contributing to the recognition of cultural assets as key drivers of sustainable development. The programme also seeks to explore the economic value and inclusive potential of curating cultural assets.

The programme includes an online theoretical course on art curatorship, complemented by in-person internships for up to 25 selected participants at leading Portuguese cultural institutions, culminating in a final meeting.

Eligibility Conditions

Applications are open to curators and cultural professionals from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste who are engaged in the preservation, promotion, and management of cultural assets. This includes curators, museum professionals, cultural programmers, gallery managers, and other professionals working to enhance cultural heritage and stimulate the creative sector.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  1. A higher education degree in fields such as visual arts, art history, cultural studies, philosophy or art theory, museology, or cultural production and management.
  2. A minimum of three years of professional experience or postgraduate research in areas such as visual arts, art history, cultural studies, philosophy or art theory, museology, or cultural production and management.

Intermediate proficiency in English is preferred.

Upon selection for the programme, applicants who are employed by a public or private institution must submit a letter of support for their participation, signed by the institution’s director or relevant authority.

  • After filling in the candidacy page, you may upload the compulsory documents and accompany your process (save your login data).
  • Applications may be submitted through to 30th April 2025, 4pm Lisbon time. We would recommend that you do not leave submissions until the last few days prior to the closing deadline.
