The musical collaboration between Chinese pianist Yuja Wang and Austrian clarinettist Andreas Ottensamer was captured in the album Blue Hour recorded for Deutsche Grammophon. For this purpose, Ottensamer wrote arrangements of several piano pieces of Mendelssohn and Brahms, part of the repertoire that the duo would go on to perform in the world’s most prestigious venues. Regarding his 2019 Edinburgh Festival performance, The Scotsman newspaper described the performance as based on an “instinctive, expressive and intoxicating musical partnership.”
