What if we travelled to China? Through some of the pieces collected by Calouste Gulbenkian, we will discover the main symbols of the Middle Kingdom and listen to the stories and millennia-old traditions they tell us.

On porcelain, fauna and flora come together with mastery and refinement in an explosion of colours and forms, transforming the museum’s display cases into enchanting gardens.

Among lotus flowers and peonies, the dragon and phoenix peek through; the guardian lion keeps watch, while carp leap beneath the patient gaze of the birds. Inspired by this wondrous new world, we will create our own garden and… leave everything in spotless vases.
