Date
- 15:00 / Cancelled 15:00 / Sold out 15:00 – 16:00
Location
Room 1 Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationThis interdisciplinary, participatory project encompasses artistic and somatic practices, as well as a collective exploration of contemporary issues surrounding memory and Portuguese colonial history. A meeting space where individual and collective experiences converge is being established in the neighbourhood of Vale da Amoreira (Moita), located on the south bank of the River Tagus.
This will expand the dialogue on issues such as inequalities, migration, racism and gender. Somatic practices encourage participants to reconnect with their bodies, fostering a sense of identity and bodily awareness. These practices also enhance individual resilience and a sense of belonging to a community.
Projeto 1952 | Arquivo em Movimento is promoted by the Oprimido de Lisboa Theatre Company and is sponsored by the PARTIS & Art for Change initiative.
Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended. Registration form available from January 26th.
About the project
Projeto 1952 | Arquivo em Movimento is based on a reflection on the visual archive of Portuguese colonialism at the National Museum of Natural History and Science, and classified as “sensitive” heritage. The project aims to co-create a multidisciplinary performance with a focus on dance and movement. The performance's creative process encompasses somatic education, improvisation, choreographic composition, and direct work with photographs. It is inspired by the “untold” stories of these bodies enclosed in the archive, and their emotional and critical interpretation.
