An artist's book resulting from a work developed during the pandemic with women from various regions of Brazil.

Presentation session of the book Latinamerica, 2020, by the Brazilian artist Gabriela Noujaim. The book, a limited edition, contains screen prints in various media and texts. It resulted from a work, started in April 2020, with women from various regions of Brazil and different areas of activity.

About the project, the artist says that “the negative impact of the pandemic on women has become something latent, revealing extremely urgent issues in Latin America, mainly by the precarious conditions of informal jobs – caregivers and domestic workers, for example, besides the increase in violence against women, added to the cases of deaths by the virus among indigenous and other women in vulnerable situations”.

The presentation will be held by Leonor Veiga, curator, researcher, and professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. During the session the video Mulheres Latinamericas 2020 (3′ 33″), produced in the context of the artist book work, will be screened, a copy of the book will be donated to the Art Library collection.
