Over more than three decades, Luís Quinta has told the stories of the natural world through photography and nature film. From mountains to marine ecosystems, from vast landscapes to almost invisible details of animal behaviour, his work shows that nature reveals its most fascinating stories to those who learn to look beyond the obvious.
Luís Quinta now invites us to explore the Gulbenkian Garden with a more attentive and conscious eye, decoding the dynamics of natural life. What stories do the marks on a leaf tell? What survival strategies are hidden in the insects that live among the vegetation? How do light, water, plants and animals interact over the course of a day?
Many of today’s smartphones have extraordinary photographic capabilities, allowing us to capture detail, work with different perspectives, explore natural light and create striking images with equipment we carry in our pockets every day. More important than owning the latest model is understanding what the tool can do and developing an eye that uses it creatively and consciously.
Over 3 hours of exploration, practical exercises and discussion, participants will be challenged to discover that nature photography depends less on technology than on the ability to see what usually goes unnoticed.
Part of the workshop takes place in the garden, regardless of the weather conditions. Participants should wear suitable clothing and footwear.
