Kitsent by mail – organized by teachers at school. In this activity, teachers and students embark on an imagined journey into the life of a tree in the Gulbenkian Garden.

A very special package will be delivered to the school – bringing a piece of the Garden by post. Inside are materials that allow for a year-long set of discoveries about the world a tree shelters.

Where do its roots grow, what is the texture of its trunk, the shape of its leaves, the colour of its flowers, and how do its seeds germinate? Which plants grow nearby, which animals find shelter there, and what transformations occur with the seasons? Drawing on the richness and biodiversity of the Gulbenkian Garden, the project invites exploration of the trees around us – in the schoolyard or close to home – awakening curiosity about the natural world and encouraging artistic expression. When the group later returns to the Garden, with the eyes of researchers, will they discover their own tree?

Prior appointments are required between schools and Descobrir to define procedures for mailing the kit. Each kit includes three sets of consumables and can be used by three classes/groups within each school/institution. Teachers should indicate the correct number of students who will use the kit.
