Addressing themes such as colonial heritage, loss, and belonging, Julianknxx (a multidisciplinary Sierra Leonean artist) works on the borders between the written word, music, and visual art.

Starting from his own story, the artist seeks to deconstruct prejudices about art, history, and African culture, working on the black experience of constructing and reconstructing identities, rejecting labels, and creating new collective narratives.

For Cartão Gulbenkian Mais holders, the visit will allow them to discover the exhibition, which was born from a project that took the artist to seven European port cities with strong links to colonial history: Lisbon, Antwerp, Barcelona, Hamburg, Liverpool, Marseille, and Rotterdam. For a year, Julianknxx collaborated with choirs, politicians, dancers, and local activists, gathering performances and testimonies that gave rise to the films.

Exclusive programming has a limited capacity. If you can’t attend, return your ticket up to 48 hours in advance using the Contact Form (select Information Request and Cartão Gulbenkian).
