Joyce DiDonato’s latest project, entitled Eden, was designed not just as a concerto but also as a programme with educational and multidisciplinary reach. At its origin is the singer’s desire to explore our connection with nature and the impact of individual actions on the planet. Back together with the Il Pomo d’Oro orchestra, DiDonato has created a repertoire that deepens this theme through very different musical languages – from the 17th century to Rachel Portman, a British composer who won an Oscar for the soundtrack to the film Emma (1996) and from whom was commissioned the piece The First Morning of the World.
