With an unprecedented selection of items brought together by Mr Calouste Gulbenkian, this tour will help us understand better which gems marked the high jewellery of the first quarter of the 20th century.

The 20th century revolutionized the technique of cutting gemstones – especially colourless and coloured diamonds – and introduced new gemstones. Australian opals, for instance, were recently discovered, while tourmalines and coloured sapphires were in particular demand.
