BOWING holds performance art laboratories with Asian migrants who come to the Alentejo Region to work in intensive farming companies.
CORPOEMCADEIA is a project that brings dance and Gestalt to a group of men serving sentences in Linhó Prison.
By sharing the reflections, stories and practices of these projects, we discover points of convergence and divergence in the theme of isolation and create pathways to breaking down the walls of solitude of the other.

Catarina Barata
Anthropologist and artist. Catarina is a PhD student at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, focusing her research on obstetric violence. She is a member of the Board of Associação Terra Batida and the Portuguese Association for the Rights of Women in Pregnancy and Childbirth. Catarina has been part of the Bowing project since 2021.

Catarina Câmara
Interpreter, teacher, creator, counsellor in Gestalt Psychotherapy. She has been a part of and implemented projects in community art, combining performance practices, Gestalt psychotherapy and social ecology. Catarina has been artistic and social coordinator of CORPOEMCADEIA since 2019.

Henda Vieira Lopes
Clinical Psychologist, family and community therapist, with 20 years of work in the areas of masculinity, interculturality, Negritude and Africanity, family support and community intervention. Psychologist of CORPOEMCADEIA.

Inês Melo
Teacher, performer, co-creator and production assistant for participatory art shows. Inês is part of the core BOWING and co-creation team of the performances put together under the project, their dance composition and interpretive construction.

Madalena Victorino
Choreographer, teacher and creator of dance and performance arts shows, with a special focus on participatory art with different communities. Her work is recognised for its humanistic value. She is co-founder, together with Giacomo Scalisi, of the artistic and cultural project Lavrar o Mar. Madalena is artistic director of BOWING and of the two performances presented under the project: BOWING (2021) and BOWING BACK (2022).

Matilde Real
Co-creator and performer in participatory art shows, she has worked with different communities in the field of the written word. Matilde is part of the core BOWING and co-creation team of the performances put together under the project, their writing and dramaturgy.

Nusaiba Taima Nur
A 16-year-old student, born in Bangladesh and living in Portugal since 2022. Nusaiba pictures, writes and tells stories. She lived with her mother in Almograve, Odemira, during which time she joined the BOWING project as a participant, on which she continues to collaborate from her new home in Lisbon.

Paolo Quattrini
Psychotherapist, Director of Istituto Gestalt Firenze and the International School of Gestalt Training. He is member of the European Association for Psychotherapy and the International Federation of Gestalt Training Organization (F.O.R.G.E). He is the author of Manuale di Psicoterapia a uso del Paziente. He is supervisor of didactic training in Gestalt Therapy in Italy, Spain, Poland and Brazil. Paolo is supervisor of the CORPOEMCADEIA project.

Rajendra Shiwakoti
Musician, translator and mediator. She has worked in intensive farming companies in the municipality of Odemira and is now a mediator at TAIPA – Organização Cooperativa para o Desenvolvimento Integrado. Rajendra participated in BOWING in 2021, and now collaborates on the project as a translator, mediator and percussionist.
