Over two years, Terra Amarela travelled across the country, working with cultural and artistic collectives from different regions to get to know disabled and Deaf artists, their forms of artistic expression and the contexts in which they work. Going beyond numbers, this process of research and listening, led by Patrícia Silva Santos, sought to understand their journeys and what they reveal about Portugal’s cultural landscape, including the barriers that continue to limit access to opportunities for artistic creation, programming and decision-making.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion: what practices, methodologies and policies can we put into action to change this reality? How can we bring people together, share experiences and create the conditions for other forms of participation?
A map is more than a representation of what exists. It is also a way of understanding what still needs to be built.
This session will include Portuguese Sign Language interpretation.
